Maxxen
While Ekron was considering drawing his card, Maxxen and his friends had entered a battle for their lives. They had stumbled into the lair of a nesting Purple Worm.
Fighting valiantly Maxxen fell, but in doing so he saved his friends.
At the end of Combat, they found Maxxen’s dead soulless body. He had given of himself that they would live but had nothing left for himself.
In shock, Leshana and Chux reverently placed Maxxen’s torn body into their remaining Bag of holding, hoping to find an opportunity to return him to life. By some chance of fate, it was at that moment that Ekron drew his first card.
Maxxen, like the others was originally caught up in Ekron’s wish, and to some effect his fate and that of his friends is linked to Ekron.
Maxxen awoke – a gasp – it was dark but not completely, faint candlelight flickered. Maxxen tried to sit but it was then he realised he was being held comfortably. He looks up into the old eyes of a short, plump human woman. She with long, curly gray to white hair, very matronly with a kind caring look, she is spooning something into his mouth.
The candlelight seems to brighten as she smiles and he looks around, he knows this place. He has been here before, a long time ago. It cannot be, for surely this is the same women, the old innkeeper that once rescued him on the streets of Waterdeep all those years ago and gave him sanctuary. She was the only kind person he had ever met before the Abby that is. What was her name again . . . .
