Upon claiming Pol the 13 gods divided the world between them.
Hel was given first claim and claimed the Underworld and the Volcanic islands of Helandia for her peoples.
Surtur, was angered by Hel’s claiming of Helandia so declared mount Balis and its land to be his, and any other Volcano that is not in Hel’s domain.
Aegir declined the Land, for the ocean depths were his.
Njord claimed all the navigable water, beaches and the isle of Yan
Odin was given by the remaining the right to choose the largest single landmass. He declared the centre as Wodinsland and decreed his lands would be free to all, and he would not subjugate the peoples who settled.
Thor, Forseti, Heimdall, Tyr, Freya, Balder, Freya, Frey & Frigga agreed with Odin and did not claim a particular land. Instead left it to their peoples to find their place.
Skadi agreed with the other gods but she insisted the heights of the mountains would remain her domain for she loved the high places.
