The following day, after re-introductions (many of the party were quite drunk the previous night), I had a discussion in which I told Tucker of my knowledge and quest to discover the Proselyte of Chaos. He informed me that he and his group shared the same goal. I am most gratified to have found others who share my interests. We exchanged knowledge, and agreed to continue this pursuit together.

A woman by the name of Mara Brightwood appears to the group and requests that we investigate the disappearance of a Half-Orc woman named Madame Vola Dotsk, who was the leader – or ‘Superintendant’ as the title is – of Newfeld until her disappearance recently. We set out to investigate the rooms of her occupancy. Marius and I, both able to detect magic sources, began to perform the ritual in order to find any clues. But as we do, I feel the amber orb grow warm in my pocket once again. I immediately stop the ritual and reach for the orb in my pocket. Looking closely, I see inside of it an hourglass that is running and tipping over and continuing to run. It is pulsating faster and stronger. In fear, I drop it. Tucker catches it and it goes cold. Tucker, assuring me I was safe and that he believes he knows what the orb might be, asks me to take the orb again and ‘let it play out’. I do as he says. The orb projects a moving image that depicts a Half’Orc woman (whom Tucker believes is Madame Vola Dotsk), laying prey to a man standing over her who is holding a larger amber orb just like the one I possess. The two disappear, but then re-appear again, this time with the man holding a knife over the woman. The scene stops, and replays again. It appears that my orb is some sort of temporal magic device, and that the Proselyte have an even more powerful version. We think that Madame Vola Dotsk is still within the room, except trapped in another time. I also make the connection that since obtaining the orb, time for me has changed. The current time appears to be about 5-6 months following the events of my time at Parabor, even though to me, this was several years ago. I appear to have either gained several years worth of time, memories and experiences; or time has slowed or stopped for me since finding the orb. Tucker spoke of someone who could remove himself from time, and rejoin the timeline again thus altering time for himself. I am very cautious of tampering with time. It is an extremely dangerous and sensitive practice, and I know that Forseti would surely disapprove of mere mortals meddling with such things. I do fear, however, that we may have no choice if we are to stop the Proselyte in whatever scheme they have afoot.

We, the group determine that the magical ok we found in Vola’s office is in fact Kashanth’s repository of souls that he owns. The book has the ability to force souls to it, and it also spews out blank contracts for individuals to be tricked to sign. We determine that the book should (carefully) be destroyed. This artefact is called the Tome of Soul Repository. We safely take the book and store it into out Baldrick’s Glass Bottle of Storage for the time being. We expect that Koshanth will want his souls back.

After attempting to use the orb, we see the vision again. This time we see and understand the vision better. Koshanthstands over Vola holding a contract and threatens her. He accuses her of refusing to sign the contract and casts the spell sequester on her to cast her away until he returns. Koshanth then leaves. So Vola is sequestered away for now. We will need a Torc of Pol in order for me to use the orb to travel through time to reach her.

It turns out that the group had a Torc of Pol but had given it away before I came to the group. We request of Mara to obtain a Torc. Mara proceeds to the treasury to fetch the Torc for us.She does not allow the whole group to go with her, however. She allows Marius to go with her and my rat familiar follows him invisibly so that I may witness the proceedings. Marius obtains the Torc and identifies it to verify its validity, which is genuine. This Torc was owned by Roth. The Torc amplifies your main personality attribute. Slay puts on the Torc, who is now seemingly like an autistic child. He takes it off and I put on the Torc. I am instantly transported alone in time. I am transported to a version of Vola’s office where colour is absent. I find Vola here, and a crazed Half-Elf man who I grab, along with Vola and manage to transport the three of us back to the present time.

The Torc begins to speak to me in my mind. It wishes to be returned to Roth. I instantly agree and I vow to do every thing that I can to do this.

Our reward for rescuing Vola, is that the 16 guilds of the town will offer up a magical item each to us. The town will also pay 500 gold to the group. The guild of Avdenturers will give a random item, which ends up being a Staff of Birdcalls, given to Perrin; The Wizards will give one uncommon magical item, which is boots of the Naturalist, which goes to Slay; The Procurers will find an item for us, which ends up being a rod for Marius; The Smiths will make a piece of armour or weapon which ends up being a +1 Dagger which goes to Ehrman; and the Marchants and the Bankers band together to provide the 500 gold. I am given extra gold in place of an item. I end up being given 150 gold. The Procurers were once the Assassin’s guild but as the Assassin’s guild is now illegal in this town, they have renamed themselves to the Procurers.

Floki has disappeared to a library and has not been seen in some time….

We have a new companion join the group. His name is Swift. Seemingly a Half-Elf, and a Fighter.

I have spoken my concerns to Tucker regarding the apparent greed of Marius and Slay towards the Torc. I am concerned of their intentions, that they are power hungry and may over-use or misuse the power of the Torcs. Marius wants to retrieve a Torc known to the group from a temple for himself. Tucker was understanding and agreed to keep Marius and Slay in check.

– Addition – When I attempted to remove the Torc, it would not come off. It seems that I am now stuck with it on. I have also been warned that if I tell a lie while wearing the Torc, it will instantly behead me and I will die.

Vola had lost her right hand in the encounter with Kashanth. Kashanth may still have her hand in his possession. Vola is now at the Temple of Freya in the care of the priests there to recover.
